The shore club is a fabulous place to go and treat yourself to a fancy meal. This is definitely more upscale and I would suggest that you go there expecting some serious quality. I went there after work with some co-workers for happy hour and I definitely was not disappointed. Although I didn't have any oysters, I have it on excellent authority that they were delicious! I did end up having some prawns and a meatball which was great! The prawns are big and fresh and the meatball would make any Italian Nona proud! If you haven't been here yet, it is definitely worth checking out! I doubt you would be disappointed!

This is the lobby restaurant inside of the Westin Ottawa and if definitely lives up to the high standards and elegance of the hotel itself. Hidden behind heavy wooden doors is a vast dining room and bar area with high ceilings all within a cozy dimly lit space.
A sidled up to the bar being on my own and asked to see the menus. I was curious about their Old Fashioned as it's typically my measuring stick cocktail for how well trained their bar staff are and the overall quality of their cocktail program. I was a bit surprised when I was handed a nearly full glass of liquid as a typical OF at most has a 2-3 oz of liquor and a splash of soda at best. This one seemed to be a bit heavier on the soda and while it was more watery it wasn't necessarily watered down. The flavours of the bitters and spirits came through albeit a bit more muted. Still a not bad effort... 3.5/5.
For a main I went with their standard burger from the bar menu. It was cooked to just shy of medium and was a hearty beef pattie of high quality chuck. Great soft bun lightly toasted and all the toppings you would expect. There was a sauce spread on the bun that really elevated the whole sandwich. 4/5
Prices were on the higher side on account of it being a steakhouse... in a hotel and 2 drinks and the burger got me to nearly $60 with tax and tip so wasn't loving that.2/5
Overall, great quality, and if you're staying here I would definitely recommend giving it a chance.

It's a classic restaurant - in a hotel and thusly overpriced.
Service is attentive and excellent.
I have a hard time in steakhouses - I can make a better steak than anyone and it would be great to find a reasonably priced, perfectly cooked, juicy delicious steak.
My $30 steak salad was ok. The quality of meat was not all that good - some fatty parts and under seasoned. Edible for sure but not inspiring. The salad was very lightly dressed and bitter but paired ok with the steak.
My bro had a lobster Cobb salad ($31) - he enjoyed it.
I just struggle with such expensive places.
I've been to Shore Club for dinner too and it was obscenely pricey and not that delicious....which just kills it for me.
I would return but I'm not running back. -

I came here with the meetup group. The appeal of not cooking dinner & ease of location were too strong to reject.
I arrived early & had to wait for the table to be set. I waited in the bar & was promptly offered a drink. Within a matter of minutes, the hostess came to collect me to take me to the table.
Thankfully, the meetup guests were an interesting bunch because it took a while our orders to be taken. Not by fault of the server but due to 2 latecomers.
Every item, including side dish, and even bread has a cost! Choose carefully. I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken, and shared the mashed potatoes & roasted beets.
The fried chicken was alright. I've definitely had better.
The gratuity is added immediately to the bill for large groups. -

Upscale, classy, sophisticated, elegant, and glamorous. That is this restaurant and the staff that supports it. Attached to the Westin. This diamond is truely spectacular. If you are downtown Ottawa, worth the visit and the experience. Bon Apetit.
